From now through Mardi Gras, Whole Foods Market stores in Louisiana and Texas will sell T-shirts designed by Louisiana artist Adrienne Landry Lay to help rebuild New Orleans neighborhoods. Whole Foods (5600 Magazine St., 899-9119; 3420 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, 888-8225) will donate $5 for every T-shirt sold to Beacon of Hope Resource Center, an organization that helps residents affected by Katrina rebuild their homes and communities. Bed Bath & Beyond has just opened a new 28,000-square-foot store on the West Bank at 901 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey (366-1394), making it the chain's 12th location in Louisiana. Specializing in domestic merchandise and home furnishings, Bed Bath & Beyond also has a store in Metairie (4410 Veterans Memorial Blvd., 454-6930; www.bedbathandbeyond.com).

There's a new gallery in the French Quarter. Opened in the fall and located in a Spanish-style home and courtyard built in 1798 by Jean Francois Merieult, White Peacock at the Court of Two Lions (710 Toulouse St., 872-9232; www.courtoftwolions.com) is an indoor/outdoor art gallery featuring work by local artists, various garden elements and outdoor murals as well as original giclées by artist Amzie Adams. The gallery is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. or later.
