This Uptown family favorite still caters to its faithful clientele with seafood po-boys, burgers and veal cutlets. The kitchen has stepped out of its culinary box with an award-winning po-boy stuffed with fried green tomatoes and shrimp remoulade. The Porterhouse pork chop is served with a side of duck and andouille jambalaya. Daily specials also include fresh fish dishes. Reservations accepted for six or more. Dinner Tue.-Sat. Customers mix their own treats at this self-serve yogurt parlor, choosing from a selection of 14 nonfat soft-serve flavors plus any of the dozens of fresh fruit and dry toppings. YOUNG'S RESTAURANT

An old-fashioned steakhouse, Young's handcuts its meat in house. Entrées range from a petite filet and sirloin up to a 14-oz. rib-eye, and steaks are served with a green salad and baked potato. YUJIN JAPANESE RESTAURANT

An assortment of Japanese specialties and sushi rolls beckon at Yujin. The Burning Man roll combines spicy tuna, tempura crunch, hot pepper and avocado. Cooler heads prevail with the snow crab salad: a creamy, crabmeat-stuffed avocado served over greens with carrots and asparagus. YUKI IZAKAYA

This chic little pocket of nightlife on Frenchmen Street has turned the former back bar area of Café Brasil into a Japanese tavern offering a wide range of sakes, Japanese beers and exotic bar snacks. The menu changes frequently, but features small plates of treats like barbecued eel, crab dumplings, peppery French fries with wasabi mayonnaise and steamed clams with sake butter. No reservations. Dinner and late-night service Tue.-Sun. Cash only. $
