2007 Monte La Sarda Garnacha

Garnacha, known as Grenache in France, is one of the most heavily planted red varietals in Spain. Fruit for this wine was sourced from vines at least 45 years old in the Bajo Aragon subregion in northeastern Spain. The wine touched no oak and was gently aged to preserve its fruit character. It exudes aromas of ripe cherry, strawberry, earth notes and dried herbs. On the palate, flavors of red currants, raspberry and plum prevail with a pleasing minerality on the finish. Try it with tapas, grilled meats, pizza, pasta with tomato sauce, stews, barbecue or cheeses. Buy it at: The Wine Seller, Bacchanal, W.I.N.O., and Cork & Bottle. Drink it at: Cure. — Brenda Maitland
