2010 Big Easy Entertainment Award Winners 

Big Easy Awards Announced for Music and Theater

The Big Easy Foundation presented awards in theater and music at the 2010 Big Easy Awards at the Sugar Mill on Monday, April 19. Winners included Entertainer of the Year and Male Performer of the Year Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, Lifetime Achievement Award and Best Female Performer Germaine Bazzle, Theater Person of the Year Bob Edes Jr., who also won Best Actor in a Drama for I Am My Own Wife, and Lifetime Achievement in Theater-winner Ron Gural, artistic director of the Shakespeare Festival at Tulane.

  Celebrity presenters included John Goodman, Harry Shearer, Bryan Batt and Dr. John. There were performances by Best Rock Band Bonerama, Best Country/Folk winner Gal Holiday with the Honey Island Swamp Band, Best Mixed Bag winners the Imagination Movers with DJ Jubilee and the cast of the musical Altar Boyz, which won two Big Easys.

  Proceeds from the Big Easys support Big Easy Foundation grants in performing arts education and development.
