Washington state's vineyard acreage, number of wineries, wine production and sales have increased steadily over the past 20 years. The large Columbia Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA) encompasses smaller, more tightly defined AVAs such as the Wahluke Slope where most of this wine's fruit was sourced. The wine was cool fermented in stainless steel and remained on the lees for 7 months. It rested in 5 percent new oak for a few more months before bottling. In the glass, it offers aromas of tart apple and pear. On the palate, taste melon flavors, citrus, some savory notes and an undertone of minerality balanced by crisp acidity.
