The Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act's 20th anniversary will be celebrated Oct. 14 at a ceremony at Cameron Parish National Wildlife Refuge (1428 Highway 27, Bell City). Authored in 1990, the act helps fund coastal restoration projects — to date, its 144 projects total more than 100,000 acres of wetlands in Louisiana. Representatives from the Army Corps of Engineers, the Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other agencies will highlight completed or ongoing projects in Louisiana. — Alex Woodward
