The Parkway Partners Program was founded more than 25 years ago to offer New Orleans residents opportunities to participate in the creation and upkeep of public green space for the benefit of all. Parkway Partners volunteers maintain acres of public parks and playgounds, miles of neutral grounds, eight schoolyard gardens and 28 community gardens, and dozens of public monuments. Since Katrina killed about 70% of the city's trees, Parkway Partners' top priority has been to reforest the city. Our volunteers have planted more than 5,000 trees on neutral grounds, in parks, and on street-to-sidewalk strips in some of the worst-hit areas. Every 2nd Saturday of the month, Parkway Partners offers a free plant sale and related workshop at its teaching greenhouse on Baronne Street. It's a great place, and we hope you'll visit us. Re: “Parkway Partners Greenhouse”
Parkway Partners was founded more than 25 years ago to offer New Orelans residents opportunities to participate in the creation and maintenance of public green space for the benefit of all. Parkway Partners volunteers currently maintain acres of public parks and playgrounds, miles of neutral grounds, nine schoolyard and 29 community gardens, and dozens of public monuments in different parts of the city. Since Katrina killed about 70% of the city's trees, Parkway Partners' top priority has been to restore the urban canopy, which safeguards our health and helps us to conserve natural resources. Since the ReLeaf New Orleans campaign began in 2006, Parkway Partners volunteers have replaced more than 5,000 trees on neutral grounds, in schoolyards, and on street-to-sidewalk strips. Every 2nd Saturday of the month Parkway Partners hosts a free plant seminar and sale at its Teaching Greenhouse on Baronne Street.
