Wow! I have had TOTALLY opposite experiences, neighbor!
I go there all the time since the new owners took over--and everything has been wonderful. Fresh, honest, good food...nothing fancy, nothing stupid, just the way a great neighborhood restaurant should be. A very interesting & accessible wine list, delicious food, cheery service...I'm so sorry you went in on a bad night. Honestly, I think if you went in and told the owners abut this experience, they'd bend over backwards to change your mind.

Smoking is not a "human right". It is a privilege, and a long as it's legal, people have the right.
That said, Smoking bans do not 'kill business'--that's utter nonsense. Bars in NYC, Barcelona, Paris, LA...anywhere there is a ban, are doing just fine. People don't go to bars to smoke, they go to have a drink and be social.
