Oh, if only Poise & Grace were as contagious as fear, rage and hate. Thank you Ieshia Evans for your beautiful example.
The story of Shamarr Allen finding a mentor in Brice Miller really grabbed my heart.
The word ignorance is frequently used as an insult, but it's actually the simple lack of information or knowledge. (Willful ignorance is another story.) When I was 13, I asked an elderly nun how God could condemn a child born in a remote area and never exposed to the concept of God. Even she didn't seem satisfied with her answer. You don't know what you don't know. Awareness of this seems to increase with age. Education has failed too many. It hasn't always been this way. It's a delight to get a glimpse of people who are putting forth the effort to make things better. Thanks.
A person can test positive for pot for weeks after stopping use of it, long after the effects have passed.
Sounds like this guy had much bigger problems and the employer seems to lack good judgement.
The butterfly was a bandstand also. It backed onto the river and people would sit on the grass to watch the bands play with the lovely river in the background. The Allman Bros. were generous enough to perform there for free. In the article, "Remembering the Warehouse", there is a reference to the free concert. I knew it as the butterfly back then but did not know it was shortened to the fly. That's quite amusing.
