Although I have never been in the bowling alley, my uncle, L.P. Smith was the architect and builder of O'Shaughnessy's. I believe there was also a gas station by the same name and similar architectural style nearby on Airline Hwy. which he also did. Actually, he was my mother's uncle, all of generations gone by. If you can remember Lenfant's on Canal Blvd., which is now gone but in its place is a funeral home; he also designed and built that one too, among many others of our old favorite structures, with much of what is now called Art Deco with plenty use of the glass blocks and rounded corners to the buildings, distinctive of that era. Have not heard mention of O'Shaughnessy's in a long time. Does any of this ring true to you?
