Drugs should be legalized and regulated, yes even heroin. Morrell is wrong more laws will not stop people from dying, they will increase the amount of people who die. If you are an addict you aren't thinking about the law but rather how to get your next fix and the harder you make it the more crime occurs. The laws are what's killing people by creating a black market with lots of profit to fight over. The laws prohibit people from getting help and they prohibit clean needles that would prevent AIDS. Addicts in other countries that have legal but regulated drugs live longer, happier lives and have greater success of kicking the habit then people in the U.S. Also, they have far less crime, with much lower numbers of homicides then we do.
Stop criminalizing a social problem and stop the insanity!
Jindal's plans are not about our children's education, if they were then the private schools taking vouchers would have to have the same standardized testing requirements as public and charters would have to take all kids not just cherry pick the ones they want.
This is about Jinal's friends making money, a way of funneling public dollars into private hands, in other words welfare for the rich at the expense of our children!!!!
The government regulates companies so they don't pollute our air and give us cancer, now it's time to stop individuals from doing this as well.
Your rights ends at my nose.
Wanna smoke, do it where you can only harm yourself!
Does anyone know which judges tried to block this? I would like to vote against them next time.
Legalize drugs and take the selling of them out of the hands of 15 year olds and you will solve most of the violence problems.
Places like India have much less violence but have had greater poverty problems, young unplanned pregnancy's and lack of education but not the murder rate and there is no "war on drugs" .
Where drugs are legal and controlled for above 18 only crime is very low. Money is spent on education and rehab not on jails and taxes are collected on sales.
This is not just a poverty problem but a prohibition of drugs problem.
Don't like the music, move to Metairie. You can also move your uptight business there too! Why did you more to the FQ in the first place? Are you just plain stupid? Want to fight ugly trash in the FQ, start with the big a** beers, t-shirt businesses and chain restaurants. So what if the young kid with the trombone doesn't pay taxes, it doesn't mean they are any less of a citizen. Don't teach young people that their passion for music is a crime! How come the "powers that be" always try and kill the things that make our city so special!
Re: “Butch Gautreaux REMOVES His Name From Tea Party Endorsements”
I couldn't vote for someone who was endorsed by those nuts. Talk about cherry picking only what they want out of the constitution and the bible too for that matter.
