Hey Bcothren,
I was just out there being greedy and checking on progress yesterday and saw they are hiring. It's gonna be right between Theo's and Pinkberry, by the way.
And as far as I know, there are no problems with the Mid-City one. I guess the construction of the whole complex is a little behind schedule.
Looking forward to trying it. Still haven't gotten around to trying Panera (always a ridiculous line) or Pei Wei. Wasn't blown over by Chipotle, but I'll try it again to try to understand the hype.
One of my biggest gripes about the free phones is that you don't need proof of address to get them.
You can just give the folks distributing the phones any address.
This is why I get mail from companies like Assurance Wireless for people who have never lived in my house. Grrr.
(I understand that if you are homeless, you probably won't have an address. I say "probably" because I know some homeless outreach organizations provide people with mailing addresses to help with job searches and such.)
Hi Nola,
Getting to Terrytown from Downtown can be tough. The Terrytown bus only runs on the weekdays, and is downtown only a few times each day. (http://www.jeffersontransit.org/w8terrytow…)
I sorta mentioned it here: (http://www.bestofneworleans.com/blogofnewo…)
If I were you, I'd stand by Jamba Juice on Poydras and catch either the Westbank Expressway (http://www.jeffersontransit.org/w2wbexpy.p…) or the Lapalco (http://www.jeffersontransit.org/w3lapalco.…) to Wilty Terminal.
Both buses go there, so you don't have to ask them to let you off or anything. It's a major stop. From there, you can catch the other Jefferson Transit Westbank buses, like the Terrytown.
If it's the weekend, it's a kinda far walk to where you'll probably want to go in Terrytown. You can get there, but getting back may be exhausting.
Good luck!
@H Street Awww thanks so much! I miss them -- and your thoughtful comments -- too. :(
@TeenageGangDeb The thing that kills me is all the foolishness about building a streetcar where there is already a bus on a street (St. Claude) that's already congested with drivers and cyclists and pedestrians.
And, as you mentioned, the whole 9th Ward (not including the East, as there are buses -- though unreliable -- out there) isn't accessible by bus. You're SOL if you live in the 9th Ward off of Claiborne, since they only focus on St. Claude.
Gone are the pre-Katrina days where buses serviced the whole 9th Ward.
Wow, they sure did put a lot of thought into the parking info. As we learned together last year, the RTA doesn't care about transit-riding people.
Do the plates come with lemon cake? If so, I'm definitely there!
Re: “Sissy Nobby's Judge Judy appearance”
Anytime, Deborah! The more I watch the video, the more Nobby-isms I notice.
I wonder if the folks who left the T-P today (http://www.bestofneworleans.com/blogofnewo…) said, "But at the same time, fish, (snap!) — OUTTA HERE." THAT would owe me nothing and give so much life.
