I love you guys, but it's my tradition to tease this issue on my blog. Clearly the taste of this city cannot be left to democracy. I read you guys FOR your snobby opinions of our culture. I really don't care what some yuppie who just moved here thinks the "best local bar" is, but I do care what YOU think it is.
When I see men writing so petty and hatefully, I can't help but think they've been feminized in the worst possible way. Before the internet, guys used to growl a few expletives about football at the pub and then it was over, now they go on lengthy and personally charged bitch-fests on news/sports sites like women at a hair salon. Gawker media's business model involves a lot of hate-peddling (Jezebel, Gawker, Deadspin, etc), but I could've done without the cultural attacks that were technically ethnic slurs.
Fleur de fuck you, Magary.
I haven't read Nola.com since they put the new design up. The layout and content are so frustrating and insulting. I mostly use twitter for local news now. If a headline is linked to Nola.com then I do a search to see if the story is elsewhere so I don't have to go to their site. Yes, I hate it that much. It's like being on one of those fake sites that puts up 3 legit stories to drive traffic to their ad trap. When you compare it to statesman.com or seattletimes.com you really feel like nola.com is mocking this city.
Magasin Vietnamese Café "will serve a combination of home-style Vietnamese dishes with French influences and a large array of made-to-order spring rolls".
Ohh, this sounds so yummy. I will live in there.
These will work great for AT&T users at parades with less than 3 people per block.
Couldn't even get a TEXT out during KdV this weekend.
An evil flesh eating Santa. I can't wait!
Didn't Parkway and Domilise's just do a Food Wars episode recently? I went to D's this weekend and definitely got hit with the "We've Been on TV" tax. 2.5 Shrimp PoBoys = $38?!?!?!
Sandra Lee has this weird fixation on the letter "L". She drags it out in every sentence, like: "This is so lllllllllllllovely." or "Llllllllllavender makes a great centerpiece." My fave part is when she dresses like a sex kitten for Halloween episodes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvM7p6b5oKE
