I was a 16 year old New Yorker who went to Milton, Florida to visit my 1st cousins for the 1st time.. They lived in a shack with outhouses and coon dogs.. all that was there were baptist churches, red clay roads and the Klan..On Dec 31, 1971, my cousin Kenny and I with a bunch of his friends went to New Orleans for New Years Eve.. Weed and Boones farm wine!.. We went to the wharehouse and saw the Allman Bros... What a blast..Cops smoking weed with us in the french quarter, great food and music everywhere..I had gone to CBGB's in NYC a few times by then and saw Lou Reed, The NY Dolls and others but the warehouse was a very special time for me and I will always remember it.
