So sad....NOLA is getting more and more like California, totally yuppied-out, priced out, gentrified out and way out. Not at all the peculiar place I remember.
Watch more carefully. There are at least 4 subplots going on: Toni & daughter dealing with the suicide of Creighton, Big Chief and his son trying to do an album with Dr. John, Annie the violinist and her career, and Janette and her cooking adventures in NY, plus Antoine and his finding his place in music. If what you want is explosions and car crashes, then no, nothing is going on. If you want the subtle undercurrent of life in New Orleans, watch harder and you'll see.
To every musician who ever played in a 'lounge band,' during the 50's & 60's, Prima's band was the standard to which everyone aspired.
Nobody could swing a shuffle beat like his group, his rendition of 'Old Black Magic' was never equaled, and what can you say about Sam Butera that hasn't already been said? Viva Louis!
