Right on target, asalways, Chris!!!
I am reminded of an incident last summer. I went to the Alvar Street Library and was so happy to see groups of African-American (only) children gathered around an adult who was reading to them and doing some type of craft work. On the grass behind them was a group of African-American(only) children intently learing how to throw and catch a ball. I was thankful that these beautiful children were learning how to play together and how to interact without arguing and shoving, so common to little ones.
Then I noticed: WHERE WERE THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN ADULTS to be role models. All the adults helping these precious little ones were interested, caring white adults.
It would be so GREAT to see adults of their own race interested in being appropriate role models of positive social interaction!
