My question for Habitat is, "What about the drywall that was given away or sold to area non-profits that have been put in homes?" Our organization, lowernine.org, received free drywall from Habitat in 2008 and 2009. Before accepting a single sheet, we asked for confirmation that the drywall had been inspected and was okay to use. We received pages of test reports from a California firm purporting to show that the drywall was not contaminated. And yet, we have discovered tainted drywall from Habitat in at least three homes so far. We have heard nothing from Habitat that indicates that are going to take responsibility for the full extent of the problem.
