Lifelong New Orleanian untill Katrina and still in the Metro Area. I will be back in a few years when life permits.
FUN FUN FUN! I went to the Melting Pot on St. Charles for the first time Saturday night and it was a blast. Indeed a little pricey, but you are paying for the experience. Cheese and Dessert was awesome... Entree so..so. But overall a great first experience and Ill definitely be back, but probably for only the cheese, desert, and drinks.
Ok, so an update on this one. I know a guy who used to hang out at Samuels and knew the owner, and he tells me that the old owner of Samuels actually has the right side of the building now (which is the bar) and is turning it into Samuels Blind Pelican. Now that he told me that, I do recall seeing a sign up there for that recently. It is slated to open before Mardi Gras supposedly. The left side is a restaurant called Mia's and will remain that. After some internet searching, Samuels Blind Pelican shows at the address on the net.
Touche' for the clarification Wendell. While I admittedly do not know much about you, I have heard good things and was dishartened when the article used the race subject. I am glad to hear that it was not true, because I ginuinely think that if the race card was torn up and thrown away in this city ON BOTH SIDES, there would be much more focus on what to do about the roots of these issues.
Thanks Blake, any idea on whether or not the rumors of reopening are true?
But as usual people like Kathie Lee can do nothing but have a look of disdain on her face. They just dont get it. Its humor.. fun... NOLA at its best.
I LOVED thier performance. These guys are hilarious. It was funny to see them on TV the day before the parade and see Hoda loving them and Kathy Lee looking just short of disgusted. Just another example of how wonderful NOLA is and how the rest of the country just doesnt quite get it.... lol
Hope the Stompers get to continue in the parade.
I am very pleased to have been a volunteer at this event. I am in no way affiliated with nor did I know anyone there, I just heard about it through the YLC. Everyone was great and it was a wonderful experience. Thanks to Rafa and his family and I wish them all of the best.
VERY COOL!!! Also never been to Zeitgeist. Comfortable, little warm, but not overly crowded. Nice change from the typical dinner/drinks Saturday night.
Neighborhood looks a little sketchy but because of lack of businesses in the area, we had a front row parking spot.
Documentary was awesome. Saw El Bulli on Anthony Bourdain and loved it and this was a nice cap to it. Mostly in Spanish or Portugese but plenty of subtitles.
