I've been waiting for someone in the media to recognize this rebirth of boxing in New Orleans. These facilities offer an opportunity to change lives for many of our young people. Both boys and girls can benefit from the physical and mental training boxing provides. I have been to events at Crescent City Boxing Gym and I'm here to tell you it is a great experience. The building is an old warehouse that Mr. Smith has converted and even though it maintains its structural origins, he's done a very good job at making it comfortable and accessible. And it just feels right when you're there watching the competitors in the ring, duking it out with skill and strategy. These are high caliber events. I'm pumped up about the resurgence of the sweet science in New Orleans. If you are at all interested, make sure you attend one of the events around town. You'll be hooked.
Truth be told, WTF, I went to this meeting and the lack of focus you comment on in this article is only a reflection of the discussion itself. I left there utterly perplexed and very disappointed.
AhC...such a tired and uninspired blather-fest. I'm disappointed that the "anti" crowd hasn't been able to rev up their considerable brain power and offer new and better ideas for being against gay marriage.
They have a shrimp soup that could be a bisque, or a stew, but either way, it's downright ridiculous good. So many things to like here it's always difficult to decide. But once you do, you won't look back.
This is not going to end well. Governor, the charlatan you have just contracted with will steal your money, make your citizens think you're crazy and halt any progress you may think you are making. Rescind this offer now or forever know you threw your career in the toilet with this one act.
Sorry Red, but you must have missed the two weeks of celebratory second lines prior to laying Uncle Lionel to rest last month. Treme' was THE place to be for witnessing New Orleans' cultural heritage live it's life.
A couple more free spots for music. Cafe Negril, The Balcony Music Club, The Blue Nile on occaision and on Mondays Mimi's in the Marigny. Le Bon Temps, Uptown has a number of shows with no cover, also.
