I would love to see when we could take 'steps forward in Louisiana' rather than going back to the Dark Ages in society. If the state's educational system was above par, then I would hope they had a plan that would involve all kids into the system rather than exclude those who do not meet their expectations. This is all so wrong!
So grateful that the endearing couple picked up Tawana at Walmart and gave her an opportunity to get her feet on the ground and make a new life for herself and her son. She has experiences she can relate and an understanding of problems and concerns since she has been there and done that!
If we had more troubled younger people read something like this or at least speak to this man, maybe it would stop their dangerous behavior down the road. He could actually be a good spokesperson behind bars and give the reality of the picture in jail to others!
Since Katrina, I have been living in South Carolina where we have our strange assortment of wild critters that roam the area. The majority of my friends are in the greater New Orleans area and reporting seeing very strange animals off Jefferson Highway. Would strongly suggest everyone use caution in both their homes and yards. Have a good flashlight to go outside with at night.
Re: “Public Housing's "Legacy Buildings"”
It seems like we have been trying to hold "The Projects" together for years and have always resented people who lived in "The Projects."
With all of the funds that have been spent for the redevelopment and refinement, there also must be a required component on how to take care of your home. These homes must continue to be preserved showing respect for where you live and how you live. They must be representative of our city and continued growth. There can no longer be a stigma attached to living in these fine homes, rather an honor to live there.
