The murders of Allen and Sipp are only slightly more extreme examples of the daily, de-facto "New Jim Crow" (to quote Michelle Alexander's book) police state we are living under in New Orleans.
The screams of the loved ones crying, wailing, and grieving at the UNOF press conference today because of what the NOPD has done to their loved one is something that will haunt me forever, and will fuel the fight for justice in my heart for a long long time. WE WILL NOT FORGIVE OR FORGET UNTIL THERE IS JUSTICE!
And we wonder why the youth feel hopeless!?!
Time to stand UP for our kids, and for the idea that JUSTICE and equality makes a city safer, not a POLICE STATE!

Justin Sipp died on his feet rather than live on his knees in this apartheid system! RIP! No justice, no peace!

The harassment, for loitering and other petty crimes, that most white people (such as the Tulane students mentioned by an Indian in the article) never have enforced on them is how the cycle of what Michelle Alexander calls "The new jim crow" policing system works.
Her book and interviews are must a read/watch. She has a great interview from the show Democracy Now! here: http://nolaanarcha.blogspot.com/2012/01/re…
and a great NPR interview here: http://www.wbur.org/npr/145175694/legal-sc…
