Charlie Smith was already a "veteran" lobbyist by the time I started lobbying in the early 70's but he willingly helped out the "new guys" when one of us asked for help understanding the legislative process. However, he usually did so in his own gruff manner, but he definitely knew the process inside and out. I will always admire his ability to overcome obstacles in business and life. He was truly a colorful man in many ways. Now that I think of it, he was the first person I ever saw wearing a leisure suit. Thanks, Clancy, for a wonderful tribute to Charlie. I will miss him too.
