As someone who worked in the Quarter for years, I can tell you NOPD always has excuses why they are lazy. If you can't trust them to take care of minor issues, why be shocked that real crime is flourishing? Getting away with minor crimes leads thugs to think they can get away with major crimes, and they are right most of the time. Start hiring better officers, pay them more, and REDUCE the size of the force. Half of them are just there to get a check anyway.

Vee Anne Russ, I use the term blacks because that is what I grew up with and it's consistent with the term whites. African Americans is a multisyllabic mess and should NOT be used unless whites are called European Americans. But you PC types will change the term soon anyway since it apparently changes every generation.

Why should they be allowed to impede the flow of tourists, thus screwing over business owners who pay a fortune for rent? Plus this is a public safety issue due to the alcohol and drugs being consumed in the Quarter while hate speech is being spewed.
