I love this parade. Saw it for my first time last year and laughed my ass off. I'll miss it this year, but will be down from NYC next weekend to catch some of the parades that march down St Charles. Bringing my 7-year-old, so Krewe du Vieux is a bit too "R Rated" for her anyway. Can't wait, but I'll miss the Krewe du Vieux!
He is no longer performing at Bullet's. Please update.
Interesting. I think many people have some version of this New Orleans-native envy. My New Orleans native dilemma is a bit more defined but still makes me feel like a fraud: I was born in New Orleans (lived in Metairie) but moved away to South Florida while still in Kindergarten, though my Yankee parents lived in Metairie for 15 years in all. I have no family in Louisiana at all and have lived in New York City for most of my adult life. But I visit often and have a deep emotional bond with the City. So when locals ask if I'm from New Orleans, I say I was born in New Orleans but grew up in Florida. They aren't sure what to do with that. I constantly feel like I'm trying to get into an exclusive club that I can never join.
