TO CLARIFY: I did not mean to imply from the stage that it was actually Shannon's birthday that day. To celebrate "Jazz Appreciation Month," which is April because there are so many jazz musician birthdays, I programmed musical tributes in my set to Duke Ellington (April 29) and Shannon (April 8)
