Thank you for articulating for clarity's sake what is at play here with the TP.
Its not just that there will no longer be a daily print edition. Its not just the slap in the face of the hard working and talented staff at the paper. Its not just a bottom line impact here. It is the void created when those same reporters who are so skilled at investigative work ( NOPD corruption, tracking Serpas, BP spill, prison expose, etc) are no longer doing it. Whos left to speak truth to power as a major voice for the GNO collective? So we've lost that, but we've also lost a historic record of fact for one of the greatest cities on earth. How is that even conscionable? We are now left with an online publication that is no more useful than any other news aggregator. We may as well be using Google News for as helpful Nola.com will become.
There are no easy answers and indeed print media may be in its death throws, but must it come at the expense of good journalists?
