This article made me relive that day over again, once again thanks for the article and the videos to see things I missed lol.
Superb job Big Red, this article had me with spine tingling chills from beginning to end. Thanks so much from a PROUD LADY BUCKJUMPER AND A PROUD MOTHER OF THE LITTLEST MEMBER ON SNARE AND THE WIFE OF THE TUBA PLAYER OF TBC.
Kudos to you for this article, you are showing that our kids, our future, are more than hoodlums that the media tries to portray them to be. They are talented young individuals who are making their marks in this world, whether it being music, sports, law, education, etc. You are letting the world know that we acknowledge the good our kids do, not just the negative. I would like to give a BIG THANKS to To Be Continued Brass Band for being mentors and having a POSITIVE INFLUENCE on Hasaan. People see Hasaan playing but Hasaan's playing with them comes with a lot of responsibilities. He is not only required to practice, but he has to be respectful to adults and most importantly EXCEL IN ACADEMICS. These are guys who also go and share the New Orleans heritage with his school every year and let's him showcase his talent to his teachers and fellow students. There's a lot of positive things I can say about them, but all I can say is their name speaks for itself. Keep up the great work you guys with the youth and musically!
Signed a very very proud mommy!
Thanks Big Red for always keeping the N.O. updated on the weekly routes of the secondlines and for capturing the energetic and hype moments through your videos that we may miss, whether we are parading or feeling that beat on the sidewalk. I am happy to see my club made your memorable Secondline moments. You know i have nothing but love for you because you show the world that New Orleans has a lot more to offer than the cime they show down here. We have a very unique culture that's "Often Imitated, but will NEVER be fully duplicated." Most importantly, I love that you are always showcasing my family (TBC Brass Band, which consist of my husband playing all the funky bass lines on tuba and my 8 yr. old son, who be whipping on that snare; The Goodfellas and kids; and Al Growe on the trombone from the Stooges) and especially me (either putting down that footwork in November with my club the Lady Buckjumpers or catching me on the streets or out with the bands). I said all this to say Big Red, KEEP up the great work and see you next year.
