Re: “The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales

This was a favorite book when my sister & I were growing up. A great show for the young at heart to share with the young ones.

Re: “How to help New Orleans tornado victims: donations needed for people and pets

I know not everyone can afford to donate money but if you want to help, please contact the local shelters & offer to foster a pet that needs a place while their owners get settled. The shelter is a scary place for a pet that has lost their home. You can help the animals & the people that love them by offering a safe place for them to stay temporarily.

Re: “Krewe du Vieux revels in Carnival satire for the Trump era

The Krewe du Vieux will be a don't miss event. With the political climate as it is, there was no shortage of inspiration for the parade this year. You know it's a success when Trump tweets about it so be watching.

Re: “King Cake Festival winners announced

I'm glad to see the winners are places I've had cakes from. It's hard to beat Nonna's & the connection to Randazzo's means it must be in the blood. I"m glad I wasn't the judge or I'd have gained 20 pounds from trying them all. Now I guess I'll have to get cakes from each of them to do my own contest.

Re: “Smoked out: medical marijuana in Louisiana

Maybe if they allow medical marijuana to be grown & sold in the state, there will be jobs in the rural areas where farms could be reworked. So much of the family farms have been sold off for development & there aren't many jobs for farming.

Re: “Dillard, Duke and the debate

I totally disagree with David Duke & his past & present beliefs. That said, I do applaud Dillard for hosting a debate where the candidates could present themselves even if their viewpoints were so radically different from ours. Dillard students are an amazing group of people & their protests show that they aren't going to let anyone decide for them.

Re: “Commentary: A closer walk with Pete

My grandfather was a fan of Pete's from the early days in New Orleans. I grew up hearing stories about how he'd go to places & listen to Pete play. We have truly lost a gentleman & musician that inspired many to follow their dream. Heaven will surely be a lively place now. I can see Pete leading a Second Line as he steps through the gates of Heaven.

Re: “Is it helpful to have presidents and presidential candidates visit the communities affected by the Louisiana floods?

I think sending resources is much better than making the affected areas have to stop everything to provide a safe visit for some elected official. If they want to see how real it is, watch CNN or some other news. If you come, be like Jimmy Carter, roll up your sleeves, grab a hammer & get to work!
