Re: “The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales

This was a favorite book when my sister & I were growing up. A great show for the young at heart to share with the young ones.

Re: “Commentary: Selling out our privacy

The repeal is under S.J.Res. 34. I listened to a good interview about this on NPR. It discussed exactly what this repeal does & how we'll be affected. Here's a link to the story-…

What this really means is that we'll be paying our ISPs to use the internet & they'll also get paid by selling our info to people that will bombard us with unwanted ads. It would be nice to have had a choice & get some discount from the ISPs for giving up something that they'll profit from.

Re: “The count: number of days U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite will have served since taking office in 2013

I was sorry to see Kenneth Polite shoved out. He was one of the people in the prosecution side of law that was trying to see that justice was served while trying to give people in the system a chance to eventually redeem themselves. A rare thing indeed. What a loss. I hope he will continue to fight for justice.

Re: “"Use your words": Roy Blount Jr. speaks at Tennessee Williams festival

I would have loved to have seen Roy Blount at the festival. He is an excellent storyteller. Maybe it's because he's from Georgia & has combined the Southern charm with the New Orleans spice. Whatever it is, it works. I'll definitely be on the hunt for his books & hope one day to come across him on his wanderings around the city.

Re: “The count: American voters who support the GOP's "American Health Care Act"

You'd think that after 6 years of trying unsuccessfully to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Republicans would have an extraordinary replacement plan ready to go on day 1 of Trump's presidency. What they gave us was a broken down version of Obamacare Light. Maybe they should have remembered the saying, "You never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression".

Re: “Snow patrol: diving into New Orleans snowballs

There is something special about the feeling you get from the 1st snowball of the season. I try to get one at least weekly.. strictly for medicinal purposes! It's cheaper than therapy & tastes great.

Re: “Feast your eyes (and your stomach?) on the "All-Star Weekend King Cake Burger"

Chris Trew has proven that he is still a wild & crazy guy. It takes a lot of nerve & a strong stomach to try a burger whose bun is purple, green & gold. Normally, if I see food those colors it means it's time to trash it. Only in New Orleans can you find someone crazy enough to make something like that & people crazy enough to eat it.

Re: “Review: an unforgettable portrait of James Baldwin in I Am Not Your Negro

I recently listened to a segment on NPR Fresh Air that included a 1986 interview with James Baldwin. His voice & comments were powerful ,the message still as important as it was then. If the documentary is as true as this segment, it will be one to see. In these uncertain times, the message applies to all of us, regardless of race.
