It was a fun place to work. Thirty-plus years later, I am still friends with several of the characters and kitchen crew.
Considering the era, pre-Internet, Anything Goes offered harmless fun yet could be edgy at times---if the guest was up for it. Many of the players had big personalities and loved to make people smile, though some were downright crazy.
Most guests were truly enjoyable. They would play along, and add to the atmosphere by sharing jokes and one-liners that I always filed away :-)
Without realizing it at the time, it turned out to be great training for life and business. Characters had to be quick on their feet, good at public speaking, and maintain a sense of humor no matter what.
The birthday song stuck with me, and I surprise people by belting it out occasionally.
My fondest memory? The night Lucille Ball walked into the restaurant (by mistake). She took one look around and looked startled---in that classic Lucy face.
Thanks for the memories, "Conrad Conehead"
