I've lived in Los Angeles, I've been to Austin and Portland, and let me tell you something: these food trucks are BS! You're really just paying (overpaying) for the "cool" look of the truck, they don't care if the food tastes good. They'll put peanut butter on a taco and sell it to you for $12, and you'll still be hungry. Or, you can go down to Willie Mae's Scotch House and $10 will get you enough food to last for lunch and dinner. And they'll even give you a restroom and a place to sit. Imagine that.
"Dont choke the culture"? These food trucks are devoid of culture. This is not tried and true family cooking passed down over the generations; they're stoners who got high one night and wondered if bimbimbap would taste good wrapped in a tortilla and covered in boysenberry jelly. Well, it doesn't taste good, hipster food trucks are a stupid trend that New Orleans does not need. We have the greatest food in the world. If you want cheeseburger sushi or a krispy kreme chicken sandwich, you're in the wrong place.
