The cockfighting bust in New Orleans is really a Three Stooges stage show. First no one was fighting and none of the claims of law breaking is so. It is not illegal to own a chicken any place in the country and the same applies to the fighting paraphernalia. The chickens were present at that location prior to the law passing about chickens in the city limits and must be permitted until the owner sells the property of decides to remove his chickens. This stage show will cost the SPCA another bundle as it appears that they forgot the taking of the 53 pit bulls from Mr. Floyd Boudreau, the SPCA had to pay for that also. He was 80 years old but this time the defendant is much younger and can wait for the conclusion he is looking for.
Cockfighting in neither barbaric nor a cruel sport and I fail to find any compelling governmental interest that the government must have to pass a law against cockfighting. I have fought gamecocks for 53 years and have never heard of any health or safety issues in this country that harmed people. Any thing you hear from the Animal Rights Cults is self-serving and for their personal enrichment. Yes, the SPCA the H$U$ and associated 501-C-3 corporations are private, inheritable, businesses. Defaming rural America is how they enrich themselves and violate private property rights; it is also a good way to police for profit. The Feds will want your property next if you are bright enough to earn some. Cockfighting is neither a threat to society or to your health. Show me where I am wrong then I will apologize like the gentleman that I am.
