My mom sold Huckle Bucks from home on Annette and Duels St. from 1968-1978 and as a widow, was able to pay my way through St. Augustine H.S. and buy me my first car, a 65' Mustang! The kids called her Ms. Mary the Huckle Buck Lady. And she put the penny in the bottom and gave the freebies too! I talked her into frying chicken and selling in by the piece (she actually fried it for me but I ducked around the neighborhood selling it for a quarter each!) lol!
We would buy the syrup from Snow Wiz on Magazine St. When others were using koolaid we used real snowball syrup! Couldn't keep a full freezer!!!
She's still in the same place at 94 y.o. and going strong, thank God.
