I have seen numerous staging of the musical hair in the past. This interpretation of the musical at la petite was painful to watch. The director had a lot of talented and electric singers in the cast but failed on every level to pull it off. The choreography was a straight line with actors doing their own thing without direction. The lighting was so ineffective I found myself wanting to leave the theater to purchase a strobe light or something for those kids on stage. The direction from the director was seriously lacking. The audience was left with a disjointed flow of songs and lame dialogue that failed to unite the theme or convey the 1960's era. Not up to the standards I expected from the theatre I once volunteered so much of my time in the past.
