I am only slightly curious as to who "Chris" is? Could he be a troll? Has he ever heard Jonathan Miller's or Sidney Lumet's commentary on the necessary pace of O'Neill's masterpiece? Has he really been a fan of O'Neill's work for over 35 years? All seem rather suspect to me. I was lucky enough to stumble across the listing of this show and was so happy I did. Certainly the finest production of any O'neill play I have ever seen. Acting was extraordinary and superbly connected and grounded, blending naturalism and style. These actors put on a clinic...and yes, it was freezing in the space...which makes the clean, crisp work of these brilliant actors even more impressive. Chris...you should have stayed...you may have learned something. Thank you, Promethean and Four Humours Theatre companies for sharing this beautiful classic. Thank you, Stephen Eckert for a masterful job of direction. The theatrical highlight of the season. Wish it ran longer and more people could see it. DO NOT MISS THIS PRODUCTION!
I was not the only person to feel this way...so it seems: http://www.nola.com/arts/index.ssf/2013/12/long_days_journey_into_night_h.html
