Re: “New Orleans homeless ordinance has agencies scrambling

When Landrieu says he has a 10 year plan, what he really means is that he'll hide from the issue until he is term limited out.

Re: “The U.S. Conference of Mayors recently named New Orleans as the first-place winner in the country when it came to “city livability,” in part due to Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s “NOLA For Life” crime reduction program. What do you think of the award?

You have got to be kidding me. A homeless camp that makes NOLA feel more like Johanesberg is enough to make this "award" as meaningful as a Grammy. Schools that are more prison prep than college prep. I keep wondering, what do the leaders of this city have to be proud about. Not much.

Re: “Should developers build a 21-story hotel at Canal and Tchoupitoulas streets?

Build it. Build something. These buildings are an eyesore and need to be taken down. Sure, I'd prefer something smaller scale, and more in line with the New Orleans architecture, but any progress is better than what we have. Just like Havana Outpost would have made that part of the Quarter a better place, this development will improve everything around it. Jobs will be created. Tax base increased. Just build something. Wait too long and we'll lose the developer and be stuck where we are.

This is one part of new orleans culture I will never understand, nor want to.
