Today it was announced that the project was removed from the docket / removed from city council vote. Maybe the slanderous Times Picayune article that I can't seem to find anywhere had something to do with this.
Crazy that New Orleans cannot afford flares as standard issue for an ambulance, cant pay fire fighters what they signed up for and to what they should be entitled. And every aspect of the city government is cutting spending. This project could be a monumental link between the convention center and the French quarter, arguably our two greatest assets. Er...they are maybe #2 and #3 behind the Saints but...the construction would have made truly noticeable contributions to our city's total funds available every year, not to mention increased the capacity for drawing more people to enjoy this great city. Who would be spending more money. It really outlines how out of touch the system is with the needs of the people.
