We need a traffic study done. The fact remains it will benefit the children of city. Let's work on a solution and not just say no to deveopment. I think we can do both but we have to include the community in the process.
Clarifications: TNC drivers and TNC vehicles are not subject to the same guideline's for background checks, drug testing, permits, class D licenses, and vehicle inspections as taxicabs as stated per Ordinance 30,617.
Another facts are that;
TNC shall not pay annual renewals per CPNC and no cap is currently proposed as in every other CPNC.
Taxicabs are required to pay $15,000 fee to the City of New Orleans for providing service through an app.
TNC vehicles are not required to protect the public with cameras, GPS, and panic buttons as taxicabs
No rate chart nor cap to protect citizens and tourist from greed as are taxicabs
No study has been done in accordance with the City of New Orleans code to determine impact and best practices
Lastly I believe a niche could be developed in the high demand times to increase accessibility in neighborhoods but I cannot foresee a shortage of taxis at MSY.
One point was missed in regards to Taxicab app payments versus Uber online payments and how the state must certify any charges based on time and distance. The only question is do you regulate or deregulated you can't have both.
