Okeanos received the THREE CROWN REVIEW for the 2008 Parade below:

Okeanos, with 14 floats and a mild-mannered crowd, was a wonderful way to start another day of revelry, and I loved the krewe's 'Back to the Future" theme " meant to represent various aspects of New Orleans' culture that have returned post-Katrina. But, some of the float titles were so broad they could have been applied to any place.

I agree with the comments about putting more emphasis on the quality of the float designs and the overall presentation of the spectacle of a Carnival parade. Here are my suggestions:
Require higher quality throw that are more sustainable, more practical and more thematic or krewe-specific.

I just looked through that Muses bulletin when another obvious thing jumped out at me. Now the anonymous mr. Duke talks about how cleverly each float brought out the satire, while simultaneously saying so much stuff was flying at him he hardly had time to notice how well it was brought out. There is one thing I spotted that points to a poverty of design.

Since Chaos and d'Etat re both satirical parades and incorporate 3-d aspects into their floats, I have to take issue with that statement. Royal Artists blends both with artistry and style that big box flat Kern Studios Bacchus Muses floats don't match.

While I always enjoy Muses, I did not find that they threw as much as usual (maybe they were saving it up this year, since I was toward the beginning of the parade). And the delay was so long, we had to leave before it was over, although I don't know if that was Muses' fault or Babylon's.

You are correct at least about the family friendly issues, however in fairness to the Muses, they did print a bulletin for the first time this year. The BERGs ( Big Easy Rollergirls) were skating in the parade early, though given the crowds, the likelihood of getting one was somewhat low.

I am far from a bible-thumping right-winger but I still don't get how Muses can play the role of being a child friendly parade while having such marching groups as "The Camel Toe Steppers", "The Bearded Oysters" and, the less offensive "Pussyfooters"?

I would like one of the Muses members to explain to my 11 year old niece and 12 year old nephew what the meaning of each of these groups' names are?

Aside from that hypocrisy, I seemed to miss why this krewe deserved the ranking.
