Having been raised in the FQ and gone to high school in the 9th [Holy Angels for me, Holy Cross for my brothers,] we were constantly hanging around, selling tickets for silly programs, visiting friends -it would be great to see the tiny shack where I got gravy po-boys again, or the seafood restaurant on Poland, or Binder's glazed doughnuts, or see the old Frey place on the park near the river restored again, but that's gone, I have memories, ^ they will hold always.

<![CDATA[Gentrification - is such an over-used word...How many of you actually interact with the local community...I don't mean all the people who have moved here from D.C. or Portland, Oregon or Ohio, and are in their 20's - 30's and think they are politically correct...How many of you actually can say that you have a stake in New Orleans...this kid spray painting this crap on this great new building should go back to where ever suburb they came from and get real...All of these kids..who wear the same dull uniform and spout the same dumb speak should simply get real..Gentrification? What's wrong can't the 9th ward look nice...or does it have to be trashy and crime ridden to meet your hipper than thou standards..please...nothing is wrong with improving a neighborhood...

<![CDATA[Yeah, FYI graffiti dude: a half a shotgun in Bywater now costs $1100 (at least the ones owned by people who "love" New Orleans so much that they bought places here after the flood, and started charging rates that no one can afford). What graffiti guy doesn't realize is that the lofts are CHEAPER than regular Bywater prices, which were forcing out all the creative people to be replaced by...whom?
