Also, I want to point out that the residents of NOLA and it's "New Orleans: Proud to call it Home" bumper sticker campaign for the last decade or so is also a BIG PART of the PROBLEM, especially 504Ward.com and Young Leadership Council.

They try to point to jobs and all that social stuff, but turn their heads away from the problems of the city, namely 24/7 alcohol that produces the many homeless, crimes and so on. It is amazing how many politicians are also caught drunk driving as well.

The people of NOLA who for example, "dislike" comments like this, are a BIG BIG part of the problem and have nothing to show for themselves in regards to making NOLA a better place, OVERALL, that is.

See a lot of those start ups they talk about in the media.

As I think about this, the T-P has had decades before Hurricane Katrina (and almost 7 years after the storm), to get New Orleans on the right track.

For 365 days a year and as many editorials and reporting, why is New Orleans still in LAST PLACE in every category?

They, the T-P, can only point the blame so much, as the T-P was supposed to watch dog for NOLA and now what left of NOLA?

It will be interesting to see how many of the Times-Picayune union-busting staff, who were sent by the Newhouses to bust the Youngstown, Ohio newspaper's strike (as reported by Gambit in '04: http://www.bestofneworleans.com/gambit/the-papers-trail/Content?oid=1243634), will be spared the axe today. For their services in crossing picket lines to keep the Youngstown paper running while the Ohio staff were on strike, the Picayune scabs collected their regular salaries plus per diem, the pay of the staff they were replacing, plus incalculable brownie points with Advance management to interfere in the collective-bargaining efforts of a paper not even owned by the New York carpetbaggers.
