Advances in Shoulder Replacement Surgery
Dr. Brett Cascio, a surgeon at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, is one of the first physicians in the nation to perform the Total Shoulder resurfacing procedure. The procedure, which resurfaces damaged joint bone and tissue and uses 3-D mapping technology to identify appropriate implant sizes, is a less-invasive alternative to shoulder replacement surgery. Approximately 5,000 shoulder arthroplasties (joint repair surgeries) are performed annually. — Missy Wilkinson
