Such Fun (Canvasback), the second LP from the Raleigh, N.C.-based sextet Annuals, reveals a new chameleonic approach to the group's densely orchestrated indie rock. Layered with piano and spiky percussion, sounding at times like an '80s film soundtrack, it's a Coldplay-besting pop parfait built with soft-focus vocals, ambitious arrangements and stop-start rhythms.
