Audubon Zoo Celebrates 120th Birthday

The animals may not know what's going on, but the kids will certainly appreciate Audubon Zoo's two-day birthday celebration. The zoo's bash will feature free ice cream and party hats, a rockin' DJ and animal shows all weekend long. The whole family can do everything from learning about the zoo's transformation from a humble menagerie in 1885 to watching baby flamingos hatch, all at the front gate. The first 120 kids on Saturday even get in free. Two co-stars from TV's The Young and the Restless, John Enos and Christian LeBlanc, will drop in at 1 p.m. Saturday. Admission $12 for adults, $7 for children ages 2-12 and $9 for seniors over 65; free admission for members.

Saturday-Sunday, July 23-24
Audubon Zoo, 6500 Magazine St., 581-4629; www.auduboninstitute.org
