Baby Bangz Natural Hair Salon
(3241 Dumaine St., 504-493-0275; www.babybangz.com) hosts a product swap and vendor shop 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 23. Attendees are invited to bring in one-time or gently used hair products to swap with other shoppers. There will also be a few local small businesses on-hand selling everything from vintage clothing to jewelry.
"There are a lot of men and women out there hoarding hair products that they barely used or that didn't work for them," says Claudia Lopez of Drexel PR, the firm promoting the event. "This is an opportunity for them to spread the love and share (those products) with someone else."
The more people that attend the Swap and Shop, the more opportunities Baby Bangz will give away to young ladies aged 8 to 18 to join their Mini Queens
healthy hair classes. These classes teach youth how to care for and style their own hair, as well as what to look for in a quality hair product. Class participants also learn how to make their own hair care products. The salon is hoping to award 10 passes, good for two classes each.
The event is at the Propeller Incubator
(4035 Washington Ave., 504-322-3282; www.gopropeller.org/incubator). General admission is $10 for early bird tickets purchased before the event and $15 at the door.
