Bach Around the Clock

Pianist Albinas Prizgintas (pictured) has built Trinity Episcopal Church's annual marathon celebration of Johann Sebastian Bach's birthday — it's his 324th — into a Bachapaloozian vigil, welcoming a community of musicians playing in a variety of genres. This year, Prizgintas is joined by his piano-playing son Albinas Jehan and brother Viktoras Prizgintas, a conductor. Local musical guests include trumpeter Leroy Jones, pianists Victor Atkins and Henry Mayronne, trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, West African percussionist Seguenon Kone, singer Anais St. John, members of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and other guests. There also will be outbursts of poetry, dance and more during the 29-hour salute. Free admission. — Will Coviello
