The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau released the lineup for this summer's COOLINARY New Orleans promotion, in which local businesses offer discounted prix-fixe menus throughout August. Two- and three-course lunch menus fall below $20 and three-course dinner menus are all $39 or less. Tujague's (823 Decatur St., 504-525-8676; www.tujaguesrestaurant.com) has a three-course menu for $39, and it includes, among other choices, Gulf shrimp ceviche with pineapple, cucumber and jalapenos; grilled swordfish topped with avocado butter; and lemon pound cake with macerated strawberries and cream. At Brigtsen's (723 Dante St., 504-861-7610; www.brigtsens.com) in the Riverbend, a $38 dinner menu includes a choice of three courses, including mustard and cornbread-fried Des Allemands catfish with a jalapeno tartar sauce; pan-roasted pork tenderloin with dirty rice and red pepper jelly glaze; and banana bread pudding with pecan-praline sauce.
Participating restaurants include Antoine's Restaurant (713 St. Louis St., 504-581-4422; www.antoines.com), Commander's Palace (1403 Washington Ave., 504-899-8221; www.commanderspalace.com), St. Roch Market (2381 St. Claude Ave., 504-609-3813; www.strochmarket.com) and others. New to the program are several eateries that have added brunch to the mix, including Warehouse District gastropub Capdeville (520 Capdeville St., 504-371-5161; www.capedevillenola.com) and Dickie Brennan's Tableau (616 St. Peter St., 504-934-3463; www.tableaufrenchquarter.com). Of the roughly 50 restaurants that have signed up to participate, nine have said they'll offer brunch specials. Organizers are still compiling the list; more may be added.
