Benefit for Big Chief Bo Dollis

A laundry list of veteran New Orleans musicians is showing support for Big Chief Bo Dollis of the Wild Magnolias (pictured at Jazz Fest), who has not performed for many months due to illness. Led by Dollis' son, Gerard, the Wild Magnolias top a bill that includes Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, powerhouse blues vocalist Marva Wright and the brassy bombast of the Rebirth Brass Band. Also throwing in their talents for what promises to be a long, sweaty night of dancing are Trombone Shorty, Rockin' Dopsie, Papa Grows Funk and 101 Runners, led by Boudreaux and featuring conga master Uganda Roberts and rocker Billy Iuso of the Restless Natives. In the tradition of the Wild Magnolias and Wild Tchoupitoulas, 101 Runners combine clattering Indian rhythms with straight-ahead New Orleans funk. Tickets $20. — Alison Fensterstock
