BP Funds Mental Health Support
by Kandace Power GravesThe full effects of the Gulf oil disaster are yet to be determined, but BP on Aug. 16 provided the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals with $15 million to fund mental health support for Louisiana residents in coastal communities. BP also promised funding for similar programs in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.
BP also funded a toll-free phone line (800-662-4357), where residents can get information from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and find out about available services.
