Bye Bye Birdie

Bye Bye Birdie is a fun satire that sings and dances its way through '60s Americana. A publicity stunt is designed for the era's biggest rock 'n' star, Conrad Birdie, to bestow a good-bye kiss to an all-American girl on the Ed Sullivan Show on the eve of his induction into the Army. Birdie and his agent Albert and Albert's secretary and would-be love, Rosie, descend on Sweet Apple, Ohio, to meet the girl who has won the honor. It's hard to say which intrudes on the other more, the ways of small town life or life in front of the cameras and spotlights of fame. The production includes a slew of musical classics, including "Put On a Happy Face," "A Lot of Livin' To Do," "One Boy," "Rosie" and "Kids." The production is directed by Ed Kresley, who was a member of the original Broadway cast. It stars J. Michael Tramontin as Conrad Birdie, Kristopher Lloyd Shaw as Albert, Elizabeth Argus as Rose Alvarez and Chelsea Barker as Kim MacAfee. -- Will Coviello
