Gambit Weekly is seeking nominations for our annual New Orleanian of the Year, an honor given to a local resident who has made outstanding contributions to the metropolitan area during 2008.
To submit a nomination, send a brief biographical sketch of the nominee and the reasons you believe this person deserves recognition. Elected officials are not eligible.
Please email your nomination to firstname.lastname@example.org with "New Orleanian of the Year" in the subject line; fax it to Kandace Graves at 483-3116; or mail it to 3923 Bienville St., New Orleans, LA 70119. Nominations must be received at the Gambit office by Dec. 12.
Gambit Weekly's New Orleanian of the Year will be announced in our Jan. 6, 2009 issue.
In answering the second question to "Blake Pontchartrain" (Dec. 2), we instructed readers that people who needed a restroom while attending Mass at St. Louis Cathedral should use the facilities at the Cabildo or a nearby restaurant. Facilities are not always available at these places.
Restrooms are open to the public at 1850 House (523 St. Ann St.) and the French Quarter Visitor Center (419 Decatur St.). There also are public restrooms in the complex that houses Cafe Du Monde. Gambit Weekly regrets the error.
